Outstanding performances from Martin Davies & Stuart Morgan helped the 1st XI to their first, and hopefully not their last, success of the season. Only 2nd XI Skipper Carl Selby picking up the only point for his side in what was actually a closer contest than the overall score suggests. Bill Humphrey had to call upon every ounce of his experience to narrowly beat Luke Wright on the final hole and four other matches went down to the closing 2 holes to get a result.

It was without doubt an extremely enjoyable contest and thanks go once again, to Pete Edwards for organising this for us. Much appreciated!

Pre-season Clubhouse Repairs - Thanks must go to all the volunteers who turned out on Saturday morning for their assistance in getting the clubhouse ready for the new season.

For some, what was to be a morning, became an all day event, when one bright individual, who shall remain nameless, but has past experience with loft conversions, suggested we re-decorate the home dressing room. 3 coats and 6 hours later, the party shall be reconvening next Saturday to complete the task. We have been assured that it will look immaculate once the green stripe is in place. Again, thanks to those who took the time out to assist.

Whose bright idea was this?

World class technique!

What do you mean, you can't reach?

Congratulations to Carl Selby on winning the GKCC Masters 2006. Carl put in a terrific performance, scoring 41 stableford points with his novice 24 handicap. Pulling off some quite extraordinary shots for someone of that standard, including an approach of 185 yards to within 15 feet on the Stroke Index 2 5th Hole which Luke Donald would have been proud of and putting with a contemptuous arrogance on the tricky greens, Carl was without doubt the deserved champion.

His obvious natural ability for the game will give the Handicap Committee some extra work over the winter prior to the much anticipated return of the 1st XI vs 2nd XI Match Play Competition in April.
