Early Exit in Village Knock Out:
Sunday saw our first and last game in the National Village Knock Out. Home to White Waltham we decided to put them in and they got a good start that we couldn't quite peg back. Their opener scored an impressive 70 and they posted 207-4 off their 40 overs, an excellent total. After the early loss ov Navin, Alex and Popey batted well with Alex getting 55. We lacked the one significant partnership that would have taken us near the total though as players got in and out. We closed on 181-8 but were never likely to get the total. A good effort though by all involved holds us in good stead for the season.
First League Games End With Promising Results:
The first league games saw both sides pick up valuable early season points. The first team after being put in and having an early wobble recovered to 200-9 thanks to excellent knocks from Swainy and Strets. A final over onslaught from Paddy and Sam also guaranteed the extra batting point. The new look bowling attack of Sam and Luke got us off to a promising start and then the spin twins of Smith and Gunarathne pounced to remove 7 of the opposition's batsmen. An excellent all round team performance with everybody contributing saw 30 points in the bag from the first game.
The 2s game was slightly different! A promising start of 39-0 soon became a well known GKCC collapse on a torrid Lt Kingshill track. 54-8 was not quite so sharp but a few late partnerships steered by captain marvel Carl saw them reach 93 all out. Certainly something to bowl at on the pudding! Only 2 lt kingshill batsmen made double figures in reply and the 2s inexperienced bowlers performed admirably. Ian on debut bowled economically and picked up 2 wickets and Tom and Chris chipped in as well. At 93-7 it looked all over but Gt Kingshill heroics, taking 3 wickets for no runs saw an unlikely tie and what felt like a win for the team. A solid 15 points was a good start.

As promised, below are the details for subs for 2008 onwards.
For Saturday league cricket, senior members can either:
A) Pay a Standing Order to the club for £10 a month for the whole year.
This £120 covers membership, all Saturday match fees and winter nets.
B) Pay a £10 joining fee and then pay £10 match fees for every game
they play. They must also pay for winter nets.
Students are subject to the above but at half price, so £5 instead of £10 for the option they choose.
Juniors continue as at present, paying junior membership and then £3 for Saturday games.
Sundays will remain at £4 for seniors and £2 for juniors.
This has been done for two reasons. It makes collecting subs a lot easier on
a Saturday and it also encourages you to sign up and play more. £120 for
a whole season of cricket is an absolute bargain, get your moneys worth!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking forward to seeing everyone at nets in March. Please remember to sign up for the Standing Order if you want to make big savings on your match fees for this summer. To find out more about this speak to Martin Smith or Alan Holbrook.
